Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 August 2026.
Chores and Stars is used by families with children. We built it so that the honest answer to "what do you know about my child?" is almost nothing — not because we guard it carefully, but because we never collect it.
Children do not have accounts
A child never registers, never signs up, never downloads anything, and never has a password. A parent adds a child as a profile inside their own household and gives that child a private link. That is the whole of a child's relationship with this service.
What we store about a child
- A display name or nickname, chosen by the parent
- The chores their parent assigned, and whether each was completed and confirmed
- Sunshine Awards they submitted, in their own words
- Stars earned and rewards redeemed
We do not collect a child's real name, date of birth, email address, phone number, photograph, location, contacts, or device identifiers.
What we store about a parent
Parents sign in with Apple. We receive a stable identifier from Apple and, if the parent chooses to share it, an email address — which may be one of Apple's private relay addresses. We do not receive or ask for a parent's password. We store the household they created and the decisions they made in it.
What we never do
- No advertising. There are no ads in this product and no ad networks in it.
- No third-party analytics. We do not embed tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their own purposes.
- No photographs of children. The app does not accept photo uploads from children. Proof that a chore was done is a parent looking at it.
- No cross-household visibility. Your household's data is reachable only by your household.
Parental rights and control
A parent controls everything. They can revoke a child's access link at any moment, edit or remove any record, and request deletion of the entire household. Deleting a household deletes its children's records with it. To request deletion, email us at the address below from the account you signed up with, and we will action it.
Where data lives
Data is stored on Amazon Web Services in the United States, encrypted at rest and in transit.
Children's privacy and COPPA
This service is directed at parents. Children interact with it only through access a parent creates and can revoke. Because children do not register and we do not collect personal information from them beyond a parent-chosen nickname and their activity within their own household, our collection from children is deliberately minimal. If you believe we hold information about a child that you did not intend to provide, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, we will update the date above and notify parents in the app.
